Grillmarkaðurinn is an Icelandic restaurant in design, style and cooking. we work closely with the country's farmers to get the best ingredients for cooking. The barbecue market opened in the summer of 2011, where it was a huge success from day one
The house, which stands on the corner of Lækjargata and Austurstræti, was originally built as a cinema in 1920 and was then called Nýja bíó. Films were shown in the building until 1987, when the building was converted into a nightclub that burned down in 1998, after which the building was demolished. The construction of a new house on the block was completed in mid-2011. The result is a memorable place where it is both fun and pleasant to eat good food and enjoy the moment. There are also side rooms for groups on site, but there is a great demand for restaurants that can accommodate large groups who want to enjoy a good restaurant atmosphere.
